This coaster has a raised dot pattern to prevent the glass or bottle from sticking due to condensation or drips. It has been designed by Ettore Sottsass, a Maestro of Italian design-- including his pieces for Memphis Milano and known the world over.

The 5009/15 Bottle Coaster has been in the Alessi catalogue since 1979 and belongs to the historical production. It is the fruit of the extensive research on professional bar & wine utensils. These bar accessories were conceived by Ettore Sottsass, internationally recognized as one of the initiators of the revolution in design, and has become a classic, a true archetype of restaurant industry and private service, an "essential" objects, with its proportions, lightness and function.
