Designed by Ettore Sottsass, the condiment set “5070” - oil, vinegar, salt and pepper - has become, thanks to its aesthetic and functional qualities, a true “industrial standard”. It lets you carry four condiments in a single motion; it is robust to the point of being virtually indestructible and is easy to clean. And last but not least, its form perfectly symbolises the gesture of offering.
Mini-architecture for the table, the 5070 series design has been in service for nearly forty years and is a testament to the inspiration of Sottsass who with a few simple lines can exalt the archetypical look and materiality of an object as common as a condiment set. This is one of Alessi's best-selling products since 1978, and can be found in restaurants everywhere in Italy and Europe. Four bottles holding olive oil, vinegar, salt and pepper slip into a short pin fence. A masterpiece that adds richness to the dining table.
