This is a cute old-fashioned "kite-boshi" made by Mitsuwa, a long-established manufacturer of "kite-boshi" tilting dolls in Japan. It has Mitsuwa's original function and has a very beautiful tone. All the manufacturing from molding, coloring, and assembly are done in Japan, using materials and paints made by Japanese manufacturers.

This item has been manufactured and sold in Japan by Kodama Sangyo since the 1960's and continues to be manufactured in Tokyo. Today, it is re-introduced as a collectible decorative figure for your living space to add an authentic and nostalgic feeling from the retro Showa-era [Japan in the 1960-70's specifically] -- as a unique and playful decorative interior item. Made in Japan.

About the Showa era: The "Showa era" was the period of Japanese history between 1926 and 1989. The 60s, 70s and 80s are fondly remembered in Japan as a time when many were feeling the positive effects of a booming economy. That nostalgia has been growing in recent years, even among those who didn't experience the Showa era first-hand. Furthermore, Japanese culture and Japanese products spread and became popular around the world.
