Studio Brillantine has been a stockist for Vivienne Westwood Jewellery and Accessories since 2013. We are delighted and take pride to be a part of the Vivienne Westwood brand as it continues to create, evolve, and re-invent itself now and in the future.
The Vivienne Westwood name and brand has become synonymous with avant-garde fashion, punk rock, and environmentalism. She was a British fashion designer who has been a trailblazer in the industry for over five decades, and has created some of the most iconic designs of all time. Westwood's unique perspective and fearless approach to fashion have made her an inspiration to many, and her commitment to using fashion as a platform for activism has earned her respect and admiration around the world.

There are a multitude of designers but only one Vivienne Westwood with the iconic Westwood Orb -- this symbol which is apparent in all the jewellery designs and collections. The Westwood Orb which is from the symbol of the British Crown Jewels -- came to be around 1985-86 with Vivienne adding the ring of Saturn which transformed the Royal symbol to the iconic Westwood Orb logo. From 1985 onwards the Westwood Orb logo was to be present in all upcoming collections.
1989: THE FACE magazine & Emily Carr University of Art & Design / Vancouver, Canada
Studio Brillantine's fascination and interest in all things Vivienne Westwood and in the Vivienne Westwood brand has spanned many years. First coming across Vivienne Westwood in an amazing photo spread article in 1989: THE FACE Vol.2/Issue No.13 magazine. THE FACE was a glossy and very influential magazine published in London, UK. In those, pre-internet days THE FACE was the magazine for fashion, style, music, film, TV and youth culture.

This issue was one of my art school prized possessions and gave me the freedom to dream and be inspired and lit the curiosity about Vivienne Westwood -- it also included photos of other "Fashion Heroes" the icons -- Jean-Paul Gaultier, Thierry Mugler, Martine Sitbon and Azzadine Alaia. One of my dear art school friends from Emily Carr University of Art & Design in Vancouver, Drew Schaffer was a Vivienne Westwood admirer who often spoke of her and this fascination also rubbed-off on me as he showed me her clothing collections in his fashion magazines.
2000: The Vivienne Westwood boutique in Soho / New York City, USA
Fast forward to the year 2000 in Soho, NYC as this was our visit to the first Vivienne Westwood shop in New York which opened in 1999. Being in this Westwood created environment was an eye-opener and this experience was the foundation of the Vivienne Westwood brand being included in Studio Brillantine -- now one of our main brands for our shop.
2006, 2007, 2012: The Vivienne Westwood boutique / Tokyo, Japan
Visiting and experiencing the Vivienne Westwood shop in several trips to Tokyo further cemented our fascination with the Westwood brand. At this point, Studio Brillantine was already stocking CDG Wallets and Bao Bao Issey Miyake accessories and it was the right time to approach Vivienne Westwood for our design shop.
2013: Vivienne Westwood is launched at Studio Brillantine / Toronto, Canada
We contacted the Vivienne Westwood NYC office in the Summer of 2013 and were very pleased with their decision to accept Studio Brillantine as one of their retailers for Vivienne Westwood Jewellery and Accessories in Canada.

Now it is always part of our travel itinerary to visit the Vivienne Westwood Shop when in Tokyo. As one of the select retailers in Canada there is kinship we feel with the brand as all our Vivienne Westwood customers can relate to.
Studio Brillantine Loves ♥️ Vivienne Westwood
One of the main reasons why Vivienne Westwood is an amazing designer is her innovative and creative approach to fashion. Throughout her career, she has pushed boundaries and challenged conventions, and her designs are often daring, irreverent, and unexpected. Westwood has a talent for combining different styles, materials, and colours to create something entirely new, and her designs are never boring or predictable.
Her early work in the 1970s and 1980s was heavily influenced by punk rock, and her designs often featured safety pins, leather, and other elements that were associated with the punk subculture.
Legacy: Vivienne Westwood's legacy is a testament to her amazing talents as a designer and person. Her influence on fashion is undeniable, and her designs have inspired countless designers around the world. Her punk-inspired aesthetic has become a hallmark of British fashion, and her commitment to social activism, environmentalism and sustainability has paved the way for a new generation of designers who are using fashion as a force for good.
Exclusive Westwood: Made to Order: It is a little known fact that all Vivienne Westwood jewellery and accessories are made to order for each stockist. In other words, all the items are exclusive in that only what we order is produced.
Now the Westwood legacy is carried forward through her design partner Andreas Kronthaler who has been a creative force with the Westwood brand for over 25 years.
