Ghosts and Monsters: Supernatural Parkdale, Toronto

Toronto's Parkdale Neighbourhood has a history of ghosts, supernatural and other-worldly stories. Whether these are just part of Toronto's urban mythology from one of Toronto's older neighbourhoods, Parkdale has a higher ratio of these supernatural stories which abound in and around the close vicinity of our shop location.

As we head towards the end of October thoughts of Halloween complete the change of the season. The shift towards Fall with longer nights, less daylight hours and cooler temperatures -- bring our thoughts and interest during this time to the realms of the spirit world: ghosts, ghouls, monsters and the supernatural phenomena.

Parkdale has its resident and renowned mentalist Mysterion the Mindreader who is very much interested in the supernatural occurrences in Parkdale from the YouTube video "Haunted Parkdale" from several years back.

Upon researching this topic it was a big surprise that within a one block of Studio Brillantine's address there are several locations including storefronts and buildings on Queen Street West which Parkdale residents claim to have supernatural occurences, ghosts or are indeed, haunted with these spirit energies. We have selected 2 highlights from the "Haunted Parkdale" video as these buildings are only a few steps away from us.

1486 Queen Street West / upper spire tower: this 100+ year old iconic Parkdale building with a spire tower is claimed to have poltergeists also in residence:

As it appears in 2024 the upper floors of the tower are boarded up and maybe these claims are true ? [!?]:

1522 Queen Street West / empty storefront: according to this section of "Haunted Parkdale" this storefront which is only 2 away from our 1518 shop address has apparitions. Perhaps it is true that the reason in remains unoccupied all these years is because of the supernatural happenings and tragic history as explained in the following section:

As we are close to this storefront we too were wondering why it has always been empty only once in the 16 years was it rented for a shop but very quickly shuttered and has remained so -- perhaps the explanation in the video about this is the reason why.

1518 Queen Street / Studio Brillantine: it is a well known fact that a more friendly sort of supernatural & fantastic kinds of creatures are seen and available in this location. The cast of Studio Ghibli's iconic characters such as No-Face [Kaonashi], Kiki the witch and Jiji her black cat as well as the My Neighbour Totoro Soot Sprites reside in our shop from our Studio Ghibli Collection. In addition, as we too have a keen interest in the classic Kaiju Japanese Monsters from the Ultraman and Godzilla franchises.

With all these supernatural Parkdale locations it is only fitting that we too are in keeping with the neighbourhood's connection with these energies which are invisible or even sometimes seen -- yet these energies & powers can be sensed and felt.
