This project is a collaboration with Alessi and Italy's National Center for the study of truffles and the International Fair of Alba truffles. Alba is the most appropriate tool to serve, taste and celebrate together truffles: a mysterious and delicious product of the Piedmontese lands.
The design of the Alba truffle slicer, created by Ben Van Berkel/UN Studio, draws inspiration from the twine created between the precious tuberous fungus and the root of the plant with which it lives in symbiosis. An absolutely new form for a traditional instrument. A sculptural and sophisticated object, it is yet at the same time functional and ergonomic. The name of the object is a homage to the homonymous city.
